We are very happy to share with you our excitement about more inclusive framework of the 2030 Development Agenda. In the current Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ‘disability’ and ‘persons with disabilities’ are explicitly mentioned 11 times referring mostly to goals on Education, Employment, Social, Economic and Political Inclusion. In comparison with the millennium development goals (MDGs) which were silent on disability, SDGs can be considered as a promising outcome that offers more inclusion of disability issue in government policies and budgets, in line with the Un Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In this regard, Light for the World as a member of IDDC will continue to lobby for more inclusive indicators’ framework. You can find a brief reflection on the disability inclusive goals following this link.
