As from this week Light for the World is member of the Global Business and Disability Network, moderated by ILO (International Labour Organisation). ILO is the only tripartite UN agency. Since 1919 the ILO brings together governments, employers and workers representatives of 187 member States to set labour standards, develop policies and devise programmes promoting decent work for all women and men.
The ILO Global Business and Disability Network is a network of multinational entreprises, employers’ organisations, business networks and disabled persons’ organisations who share the conviction that people with disabilities have talents and skills that can enhance virtually any business.
Becoming a member fits in our strategy to get a better inroad into business networks worldwide that are dedicated to disability inclusion.
We can be of help to ILO in bringing in practical examples and tested tools and to promote inclusive employment in lobby and advocacy efforts.
Some members of the network are: Adecco, BNP Paribas, IBM, L’Oreal and Novartis. Besides Handicap International and Leonard Cheshire Disability, Light for the World is the fifth Non-company member.
